Mangaluru: ‘Mega Quiz – 2015’, an Inter Ward Quiz competition was held at St. Joseph School Hall, Vamanjoor on Sunday, September 13. The event was organized by ICYM Vamanjoor Unit.
The Quiz Competition was formally inaugurated by Fr. Cyprian Pinto, Parish Priest of Vamanjoor Parish who encouraged the participants to come forward and showcase their talents in his message. Mr. Roshan Kamath, Vice President of Parish Council, Mr. Joachim D’souza, Secretary of Parish Council and Mr. Charles Pais, Animator of ICYM Vamanjoor Unit were present on the Dias.
Mr. D’souza appreciated the efforts of the organizers and wished the participants.
Avin Mascarenhas, the President of ICYM Vamanjoor Unit welcomed the gathering. Flavin D’souza, the secretary of ICYM Vamanjoor Unit proposed vote of thanks.
This was followed by a wonderful display of exciting and thrilling quiz show conducted by Quiz Master Br. Hector Pinto, the Principal of St. Joseph’s College, Bajpe.
It comprised of interesting as well as informative rounds on Bible, Konkani culture, sports, science, movies, politics, history etc. with the use of Technology such as Phone a Friend, Buzzer Rounds etc.
All the 25 wards of the Parish participated in the quiz competition which was hugely appreciated by all present to witness the event.
The valedictory function was presided by Fr. Cyprian Pinto, Parish Priest of Vamanjoor Parish.
Sonal D’souza, the Joint Secretary of ICYM Vamanjoor Unit thanked all those who helped to make the Quiz Competition a great success.
The winners of the competition are:
First place: Vamanjoor Ward
Second place: Anegundi Ward
Third place: Nirala Ward
On the other hand, ICYM Vamanjoor Unit won the overall Championship at “CHORUS – 2015” held at St. Sebastian Church, Bendoor on the same day. All the winners were felicitated by the Guests.
Spot games were held in between the Competition for the audience. Melveera Rodrigues, member of ICYM Vamanjoor Unit compered the event.
All in all, it was day to remember for all the Vamanjooreans.
