Mangaluru: Journalist Imtiyaz Sha Thumbe was awarded the BG Mohan Das award for Digital Media’s Special Report.
He has conferred the award at a ceremony held at Kannada Bhavan here in the city’s BC road on Tuesday August 31.
The award is presented collaboratively by Gulfkannada.com and Nirat Sahitya Sampad in the honor of senior journalist BG Mohan Das.
Speaking on this occasion member of State Media Academy member Jagannath Shetty Bala said the academy has undertaken several measures for the well-being of the journalists.
Trustee of Sevanjali Trust K Krishna Kumar Punja lauded the work and efforts of Nirata Sahitya Sampada.
DK Working Journalist Association President Srinivas Nayak Indaje said, “after the government regularizes digital media, the association will ponder upon giving membership to digital journalists.”
During the event, BG Mohandas’ brother Laxmikanth spoke about the life of BG Mohan Das. Sampad V Bhat, honorary president of Nirat Sahitya chaired the programme.
