Mangaluru: The annual distribution of scholarships by UAE-based Konkani Cultural Organization to the needy students for the academic year 2015-16 was held on Sunday 16th August 2015 at 10.30 am at St. Joseph’s Inter Diocesan Seminary Hall, Jeppu, Mangaluru. The programme was organised in association with Samanvaya Trust Mangaluru.
The programme began with the invocation of God’s blessings. Robert Rego welcomed the gathering.
Rev Fr Joseph Martis, Rector of St Joseph Seminary who gave key note address said, “The KCO members are doing a great work of helping the needy. God loves a cheerful giver. God has given us lots of talents. Gratitude is the best attitude”, he said.
“Those who have gone abroad to earn a living, know about the struggle of livelihood because they themselves have struggled in the initial stages. But it is wonderful to see that they are now helping those who are in need of help. I am proud of their sacrifice.We need to continue this service. If today they are helping you, its also your responsibility to continue by helping others when you are at a better stage”, he added while addressing the scholarship candidates.
Scholarships were distributed to the students by the dignitaries.
Fr Ronald Cutinho of Samanvaya Trust compered the programme.
Sr Irene Mathias from Fr Muller’s Hospital, Fr J B Crasta of Rosario college, renowned MC Leslie Rego, KCO president Michael D’Silva, Treasurer Amitha Costa, Advisor Leo Rodrigues, Bennete D’Mello, Franklin D’Cunha, Gerald D’Mello, KCO members and parents were present during the event.
