Mangaluru: On 9 August 2023, the students of class 10 of St Agnes High School were taken on a field trip as a part of the service learning project. The students visited the agricultural field of Walter Saldanha at Merlapadav. It provided exposure to the natural setting of the village.

Walter Saldanha an experienced as well as progressive farmer, demonstrated the rain and kitchen grey water harvesting. and the rice mill for stoneless rice. The old farm equipment, handheld implements and traditional wooden kitchen accessories were a delight to watch.
