Mangaluru: South Canara District Central Cooperative Bank (SCDCC) felicitated one of the SSLC toppers, Puneeth Naik here on Tuesday June 7. Puneeth has scored 625 in SSLC examination despite working at the Malpe Beach as a coolie. He also received a cash prize of Rs. 75000 at the programme.
Speaking at the felicitation programme SCDCC Chairman M. N. Rajendra Kumar said, “Though Puneeth has been working in the beach as a coolie, he still scored full marks in SSLC exam. He is the true pride of our twin districts. It is not an easy task to be the topper in the exam despite of all the obstacles. This boy is a role model for the all students.”
Puneeth is the son of couple, Kalappa and Lalitha, who were basically from Yalaburagi of Koppala District and settled in Kalmady, Udupi. Separated from husband, his mother saw to it that Puneeth’s two sisters were married and he along with his another brother, Kiran get good education.
On the occasion, Vice Chairman Vinay Kumar Soorinje, Director B. Niranjan, Chief Executive Officer Ravindra B, Directors S. Raju Poojary, T. G. Rajaram Bhat and others were present.
