Mangaluru: A heart health awareness programme was organised at KMC Hospital in Mangaluru on the occasion of World Heart Day. KMC Hospital has also organised various educational and activity-based programmes during this month. As part of the campaign, a “Healthy Heart Awareness” competition was held in 22 schools in Mangaluru.
The doctors of KMC Hospital, who informed about this at a press conference, gave more information about the health awareness activity.
As many as 13,700 children from kindergarten to PUC actively have actively participated in the painting competition organised by the hospital in the school premises.
Cardiopulmonary resuscitation experts conducted workshops for teachers and staff of several schools and colleges. Titled “Teach the Teacher”, these workshops explained how to save lives with the help of CPR.
Interventional Cardiologist at KMC Hospital Dr. Padmanabha Kamath said, “We have reached out to the community through schools, colleges, malls, industries, apartments in the City and created awareness about CPR training, cardiac arrest, heart health. Quizzes have also been conducted on heart health.
Speaking on the occasion, Regional Chief Executive Officer Sagheer Siddiqui said, “Keeping in mind the health of the people who could not visit the hospital in the morning, Dr. Rajesh Bhat’s cardiac out-patient service has been extended to the evening clinic.
Interventional cardiologists Dr. Narasimha Pai, Dr. Rajesh Bhat, and Cardiac Electrophysiologist Dr. Manish Rai were also present.
