
Fisherman Drowns After Accidental Fall in Papanashini River
Anil (46), a seasoned fisherman, tragically drowned after an accidental fall while casting his net in the Papanashini River at Pitrody in Udyavar village. The incident occurred during a routine fishing expedition. Anil had ventured out with his companion Bharathesh in a boat owned by Vasu. While casting the net, Anil lost his balance and fell into the river.
Despite immediate efforts to rescue him, Anil sustained serious injuries. Bharathesh, acting quickly, managed to pull Anil back into the boat and rushed him to the nearest hospital. However, despite the medical team’s best efforts, Anil’s injuries proved fatal, and he could not be saved.
The tragedy has left the local fishing community in shock. Anil was well-known and respected among his peers, and his sudden death has cast a pall of sorrow over the village. The Kaup police station has registered a case and is investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident to ensure all safety protocols were followed.
