FlixBus, a prominent European bus operator, is expanding its operations into South India by launching 12 new bus services from Bengaluru. These services, which will connect Bengaluru to major cities like Chennai, Hyderabad, Belagavi, Coimbatore, Madurai, and Vijayawada, come with an introductory fare of just Rs 99 for a limited period.

FlixBus Enters South India

The new services were officially flagged off on Tuesday by Karnataka’s Minister for Commerce and Industries, Infrastructure M B Patil. During the event, he expressed his optimism about the benefits that FlixBus could bring to the region. “FlixBus will address the long-distance mobility needs of people in Karnataka and the southern region with a technology-driven, collective transport alternative. People now have an increased awareness about the environment, and we welcome FlixBus not only as a foreign investor in Karnataka but also as a partner in our journey toward sustainability,” he stated.

Surya Khurana, Managing Director of FlixBus, highlighted Bengaluru as the ideal city to begin their operations in South India due to its status as a rapidly growing IT hub and business district. “Our goal is to revolutionise intercity travel with a tech-driven travel model and customer-centric approach,” Khurana told *Deccan Herald*.

A Tech-Driven Travel Experience

FlixBus aims to revolutionise intercity travel by offering a tech-driven model combined with a strong focus on customer satisfaction. The company has partnered with six local travel operators, including Universal Bus Services, Jagan Travels, Anne Travels, Jai Shree Travels, Samanvi Travels, and Varun Travels, to ensure a seamless travel experience.

The buses introduced on these new routes are AC sleepers, designed specifically to cater to the high number of night travellers in Bengaluru. However, FlixBus plans to introduce seater buses in the near future. The new buses are manufactured by Prakash Coach Builders Private Limited and Ashok Leyland.

Affordable Travel with Modern Amenities

To celebrate their entry into the South Indian market, FlixBus is offering fares as low as Rs 99 on tickets booked through their app and website. This promotional fare is available until September 15 for travel dates between September 10 and October 6, across all the newly introduced routes.

The buses are equipped with BS6 engines, adhering to the latest emission standards. They also boast advanced safety features such as ABS (anti-blocking braking system), ESC (electronic stability system), and two-point seat belts for all seats, ensuring a safe and comfortable journey for passengers.

Expanding Connectivity Across India

With this latest expansion, FlixBus now connects 101 cities across India with 215 stops nationwide. The company’s entry into South India is a significant step in its strategy to provide reliable, eco-friendly, and affordable travel options to a wider audience.

The company’s focus on sustainability and technology-driven solutions aligns with the growing demand for environmentally conscious travel options, making it a valuable addition to the region’s transport infrastructure.
