BJP workers staged a demonstration outside the district administration office in Gadag, accusing the state government of diverting SCSP-TSP funds to implement guarantee schemes. The agitation was spearheaded by former minister C C Patil.
According to the allegations, in 2023, funds worth ₹11,144 crore meant for Scheduled Caste Sub Plan (SCSP) and Tribal Sub Plan (TSP) were misused. The amount rose to ₹14,282.68 crore in 2024, and the government is now accused of planning a further misallocation of ₹14,488.68 crore in the upcoming Budget.
The BJP protesters, expressing fury over the cut in the Dalit Reserve Fund, demanded the imposition of President’s rule and dismissal of the state government.
BJP SC Morcha state vice-president Manjunath and district SC Morcha president Manjunath Mulgund submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner, urging the Governor to intervene. MLC S.V. Sankanur, BJP district president Raju Kuradagi, and several party workers took part in the demonstration.
