In a deeply disturbing case from Gadag district, Karnataka, a 28-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly murdering his girlfriend and burying her body in an attempt to cover up the crime. The incident, which occurred in December 2024, only came to light after a six-month investigation.
Relationship Ends in Tragedy
The victim, Madhushree Angadi (26), was from Narayanapura village and had been in a relationship with the accused, Satish Hiremath, for six years. Her parents reportedly opposed the relationship and had sent her to live with relatives in Gadag town.
On the night of December 16, Madhushree left her relative’s house and never returned. A missing person’s report was filed at Betageri Police Station nearly a month later on January 12, 2025.
A Murder Concealed
Investigations revealed that Madhushree had been pressuring Satish to marry her, which led to repeated arguments. On the night of her disappearance, Satish allegedly took her to a farmhouse near their village, where, after a fight, he strangled her using a veil and buried her body.
Trying to avoid suspicion, Satish resumed his job at a petrol station and revisited the burial site multiple times to relocate and scatter the remains, attempting to eliminate evidence.
Digital Trail Unravels Lies
Police began to suspect Satish when technical evidence – including phone location data – contradicted his claim that he had dropped Madhushree on the town outskirts. During interrogation, he confessed and led police to the burial site.
While skeletal remains have been recovered, Madhushree’s skull is still missing. Forensic analysis is ongoing.
Further Action
A murder case has been registered, and authorities plan to take Satish into police custody for further questioning and evidence collection.
