At a foundation‑stone ceremony for the forthcoming District Animal Laboratory—funded through the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund—state minister Venkatesh affirmed that supporting farmers remains the government’s duty. He noted dairy farming’s steady rise across Hassan and urged producers to capitalise on the new facility, which will deliver rapid disease diagnostics, vaccination schedules, and real‑time guidance.
The minister outlined ongoing programmes: subsidised fodder, routine sheep immunisations, and training aimed at turning small‑scale dairying into a reliable secondary income. “Our growers treat cattle with genuine care; we must match that commitment with modern infrastructure,” he said.
MLA K. M. Shivalingegowda, who chairs the Karnataka State Housing Board, stressed livestock’s role in rural prosperity. He appealed to banks to extend low‑interest loans so poorer households can enter dairying, while advocating subsidised medicines and vaccines to lower recurring costs.
State Poultry Board chair Harish, department commissioner Sri Roopa, director Dr Manjunath Palegar, and additional district commissioner K. T. Shanthala echoed the call for integrated veterinary services. The lab—paired with an Information Centre—will analyse samples swiftly, issue health advisories, and help curb outbreaks, safeguarding both income and food security.
Officials expressed confidence that the project will catalyse Hassan’s agro‑economy, blending scientific support with grassroots enthusiasm. Work on the facility begins immediately, with completion targeted next year.
