Calculating and keeping a track of your pregnancy week by week is sometimes an irritating job considering every time you keep forgetting dates. The one date that is a clue to understanding more about the week by week development of your pregnancy is the last date of your menstrual cycle. Here are 5 ways to keep a tab of your pregnancy development without much confusion:
1. Using Your LMP:
Your last date of the menstrual cycle can help you effectively calculate your due date. A pregnancy normally lasts for about 40 weeks, of which most women deliver around 37-38 weeks. Using your last date of periods you can calculate your due date by subtracting 3 months from the 1st day of your period and then adding 7 days to it.
2. Know Your Pregnancy Week From Your EDD:
When you visit your doctor, she is likely to give you an EDD right at the start of your pregnancy. Keeping that as a base, you can count backwards to know what week of pregnancy you are currently in.
3. Online Pregnancy Calculators:
There are a number of online pregnancy tools and calculators available free these days that can really help you calculate your pregnancy. Most of these tools are pretty accurate as they use the same technique of calculation, as your treating doctor would, i.e. using the date of your LMP.
4. Ultrasound Scan:
If you don’t remember the date of your last periods or have an irregular menstrual cycle, then it is best to rely on the ultrasound scans which will give you a more accurate due date based on the growth and development of the baby. As per this when you complete one week of your pregnancy, you are one week pregnant.
