A common phenomenon of children being affected by obesity is observed all around the globe. But it is a matter of concern in India, where around 1.44 crore children are found obese.

Children with such a health condition are said to be an easy target for asthma, suffocation in sleep and joint pains. Diabetes is easily caused by overweight too.

Overweight can lead to life threatening issues like kidney failure and heart-related diseases. Psychological disorders can also make its way with symptoms of Altruism.

Reasons for obesity
Several reasons can be listed for obesity. They include:
1. Television and mobile addiction
2. The absence of physical activities
3. An uncommon pattern of sleep
4. Eating habits
5. Excess pressure of studies and academics

It is commonly observed that such affected children and also adults, try and reduce fat and weight through different physical activity regimes. This can be a lethal move as it is not recommended until a physician prescribes such fitness regimes. Reducing fat and weight at a faster pace can lead to death in most of the cases as there is no balance between the body requirements and physical activities.

Some of the tips that parents must inculcate to shape a better future and help maintain a fitness routine for their children are as follows:
1. Do not restrict the quantity of eating, rather make it a practice to make them consume healthy food.
2. Sprouted pulses, vegetables and fruits are a must in the diet.
3. Milk and its by-products and food items with less fat consumption are recommended.
4. Consumption of water must be gradually increased.
5. Breakfast is a must. Junk food from the food outlets must be avoided when hungry.
6. Binge eating sitting in front of the television and mobile must be strictly avoided. ‘Eating together’ habit must be inculcated.
7. Children must be encouraged to do household work, exercise, play sports like swimming, athletics etc., for atleast 60 minutes.
8. Plate the food decoratively as the children will be attracted towards the food and inturn helps in consumption. Normally children avoid fruits and vegetables. This system will come in handy.
9. If their taste buds crave for junk food, vermicelli and other food items can be prepared differently and deliciously. By combining flour and sprouts lip-smacking delicacies can be prepared.

It is good to avoid cheese and excess fat food substances in the preparation.
