1. Sabarmati Ashram

The residence of the ‘Father of the Nation’ is undoubtedly the best tourist spot in the city. The tranquil atmosphere and feeling of serene relaxation of this place attracts tourists in bulk. Gandhiji started his well-known ‘Dandi March’ from this place. The ashram has been recognised as a national monument by the government of India. 2. Swaminarayan Temple

The grandiose of this architectural marvel is an awe-inspiring wonder. The dazzling white structures, remarkable patterns and intricate carvings show the craftsmanship of the people of the 19th century. The Swaminarayan temple is one that depicts the glorious history of India. The neatness in the arrangements at the temple is par excellence.

3. Adlaj Step Well

The construction of step wells was prominent in Gujarat in the past and they were required as a water source for the arid regions of Gujarat. The interesting thing about these structures is the skill of the craftsmen who constructed these wells. The Adlaj Vav or Adlaj Step well is one of the most beautiful architectures amongst them all. Built in the late 1400s, the well adorns impressive galleries and platforms. The carvings of floral motifs are interspersed with numerous figurines. This astonishing step well is one of the best places to be in Ahmedabad.

4. Lothal

At a distance of about 80 kms from Ahmedabad, nestles one of the oldest cities in the world. Lothal has the remains of a marvellous city from the Indus Valley Civilization which existed 4 millenniums ago. The foundation’s drain, wells, channels and public baths, all reveal the remains of a once well-planned city. The bead accessories, animal motifs, weighing instruments and earthen pots were also found in these ruins. So, if you are into discovering about the ancient glory of India, this is the place to be.

5. Bhadra Fort

The scenic views of the neighbouring environment of the Bhadra Fort are a delight to the eyes. Situated in the centre of a lush green surrounding, the fort is one of the best places to be in Ahmedabad. The Fort has intricate carvings and amazing frescos and arches. The fort houses many of the government departmental offices, Siddi Syed Mosque and Bhadrakali temple.

6. Sardar Vallabhbhai National Museum

Situated in the Shahibaug area of the city, the museum has a historical significance. Constructed in the 1600’s the museum served as the Governor’s residence in the British times. The museum houses various belongings and artifacts of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
