Mangaluru Launches Morning Walk With Nature At Pilikula Nisargadhama

A new project, “Morning Walk With Nature,” has been launched at Pilikula Nisargadhama, allowing visitors to walk alongside serene nature and watch birds. The tourist spot, spread over 365 acres, boasts over 60,000 trees, including rare species from the Western Ghats. Visitors can enjoy a peaceful walk by the forest, observing birds and butterflies every day from 6 am for two hours.

Officials stated that the project opened on a trial basis a month ago. Praveen Nayak, commissioner of the Pilikula Development Authority, highlighted that the initiative allows nature enthusiasts to enjoy the sunrise, view plants, and listen to birds. The programme, started in association with Manasa Water Park, aims to help people connect with nature and learn from its wisdom.

Pilikula Nisargadhama features various attractions, including a science centre, Swamy Vivekananda 3D Planetarium, urban haat, heritage village, Guthumane (ancestral house), arboretum, biological park, and a botanical garden with plants endemic to the Western Ghats. Afforestation efforts began in 2000, transforming the area into a dense forest with over 60,000 trees and 250 plant species from the Western Ghats.

Nayak also mentioned that the authority has arranged for a Tulunadu traditional breakfast for visitors, available for a nominal charge. Morning walkers will also learn about medicinal plants and their uses, receiving positive feedback from various quarters.
