The Bengaluru Urban district has confirmed six new cases of Zika virus in Jigani as of Sunday, raising the total number of cases in Karnataka to nine since January 2024.
Key Details:
- New Cases: Out of the six new cases, five are women, including two pregnant women and one recent mother. One male patient is also infected.
- Health Status: The pregnant women have been monitored through antenatal care (ANC) scans, which showed normal development of their babies. All cases are currently asymptomatic, and none of the patients are hospitalized.
- Previous Cases: Previously, three Zika cases were reported in Shivamogga, with two recoveries and one death where Zika was an incidental finding.
Health officials continue to monitor the situation and assess the impact on the affected individuals.
