A Bengaluru woman’s complaint about severe hair loss linked to the city’s hard water has ignited a lively discussion on X. Amisha Aggarwal, a Google software engineer, shared her frustrations, suggesting she might need to switch to RO water for hair washing to prevent further loss. She also sought recommendations for water-softening solutions.

Alt News co-founder Mohammed Zubair humorously noted that he hasn’t experienced hair loss despite using Cauvery water. Aggarwal speculated that her hair might still be adjusting to Bengaluru’s water and weather conditions. This led to a wave of responses from users who shared their own experiences with water quality affecting their hair.

One user, Sinfan, mentioned that high TDS levels in Bengaluru’s water had led to premature graying and lamented that well water from his hometown was superior. Others from cities like Hyderabad and Delhi echoed similar frustrations with water quality affecting their hair health. Akshansh Mahendra remarked that cities like Delhi and Hyderabad also face significant water issues, unlike Mumbai and Guwahati.

Some users offered solutions, including a patented integrated water-softening shower head and a water purifier specifically for bathing. A user humorously suggested that hair loss might just be a part of the city’s “CTC” (cost to company) and another reflected on their receding hairline as a memento from their college days in Bengaluru.
