Craving something indulgent in the morning but want steady energy without a sugar crash? Chocolate baked oats are fast becoming a breakfast favourite — and for good reason. They’re wholesome, protein-rich and feel like dessert without the guilt.
Fitness influencer Juliana (Fit Foodie Jules) has shared a vegan double chocolate baked oats recipe that tastes like a rich chocolate cake while delivering an impressive 34 grams of protein. With just seven simple ingredients and minimal prep, it’s ideal for busy mornings.
Why baked oats work for breakfast
Baked oats combine slow-release carbs with protein and fibre, helping you feel full and energised longer. This version keeps things simple, skips refined sugar and still delivers that decadent, cake-like texture many people miss at breakfast.
Ingredients (1 serving)
- 50 g oat flour (or blended oats)
- 5 g cocoa powder
- 25 g vegan chocolate protein powder
- ½ tsp baking powder
- 140–150 ml liquid (water works fine)
- 1 square dark chocolate
- Dark chocolate chips (for topping)
Method
- In a bowl, mix all ingredients except the chocolate square and chips until you get a smooth, pourable batter.
- Pour the batter into a lightly greased, oven-safe dish.
- Place the dark chocolate square in the centre and gently cover it with batter.
- Sprinkle chocolate chips on top.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for 20–25 minutes, until set and cooked through.
A breakfast that feels like dessert
Sharing the recipe, Juliana said it’s “full of good nutrients, high in protein, and tastes like a decadent chocolate cake.” Many who’ve tried baked oats say it satisfies chocolate cravings early in the day — without derailing nutrition goals.
If you’ve ever wished cake could be breakfast, this might be the closest (and healthiest) way to do it.
