This year, Dharwad district has recorded over 300 cases of dengue fever, with unfortunate reports of one fatality due to the disease. According to the Department of Health & Family Welfare, on Tuesday, July 9, 116 individuals were tested for dengue in the district, out of which 30 tested positive. Currently, 12 patients are undergoing treatment in hospitals.
Across Karnataka, the situation remains alarming, with more than 7,000 reported cases of dengue this year. Tragically, seven lives have been lost to the disease statewide. On the same Tuesday, the state reported 185 new cases of dengue, including one death in Mysuru.
Health officials have been actively monitoring and responding to the escalating cases, emphasizing the importance of early detection and prompt medical care. Public awareness campaigns continue to stress the need for preventive measures such as eliminating mosquito breeding grounds and using protective measures against mosquito bites.
Efforts are underway to bolster healthcare facilities to manage the influx of dengue patients across affected districts like Dharwad. Authorities are also coordinating with local communities to enhance surveillance and ensure timely intervention.
