Bollywood actor Fatima Sana Shaikh has spoken candidly about her evolving relationship with food, fitness and health, revealing how a drastic shift in lifestyle helped her move away from unhealthy habits towards a more balanced routine.
In a light-hearted but honest conversation, Fatima admitted that her earlier eating patterns were far from disciplined. “Earlier, I would have pani puri every day. Mera dinner pani puri hota tha aur dessert pastry,” she said, laughing as she reflected on her past.
A conscious shift in lifestyle
Known for her performances in films like Dangal and Ludo, Fatima acknowledged that junk food and minimal exercise once defined her routine. Over the years, however, she has adopted a more mindful approach to health, driven by awareness rather than pressure.
Sharing details of her morning ritual, she spoke about her fondness for bullet coffee. “Morning rituals that I do for my health hai bullet coffee. So it’s black coffee with ghee, blended till frothy. Honestly, I do it more for taste than health,” she admitted, underlining her refreshingly honest outlook.
Fitness without forcing it
Fatima also spoke openly about her relationship with exercise, saying she avoids routines she dislikes. “I hate weight training. I love functional workouts because they’re high intensity. Cardio ki zarurat hi nahi padti,” she said, adding that shorter, intense workouts suit her personality better.
Her preference for functional training highlights a growing trend among fitness enthusiasts who opt for efficiency and sustainability over rigid regimes.
Expert view from Bengaluru
Weighing in on the actor’s transformation, Bharathi Kumar, dietician at Fortis Hospital, Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru, emphasised the importance of balance. She said fitness is most effective when physical training and diet work together as part of a holistic plan.
“Start with achievable goals — 30 minutes of exercise three to four times a week, along with a balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains and lean proteins,” she advised.
Health beyond weight loss
According to experts, such lifestyle changes go far beyond appearance. A balanced routine helps improve energy levels, mental well-being and metabolism, while reducing the risk of chronic diseases.
Fatima’s journey — from pani puri dinners to conscious choices — mirrors a wider shift among urban Indians towards sustainable health habits, proving that consistency and self-awareness matter more than perfection.
