Deputy Commissioner Vijayamahantesh Danammanavar announced that Haveri district has reported 515 dengue cases since January, with the state’s dengue audit committee confirming one dengue-related death. During a press conference on Friday, Danammanavar highlighted that approximately 65% of the dengue patients are under 16 years old, primarily from rural areas. Currently, only three active dengue cases are receiving treatment in the district.
To combat the outbreak, the state government has established a dengue war room, and Haveri district will follow suit by setting up its own district-level war room. Additionally, a district-level task force committee will be formed to conduct regular meetings and provide strategic advice on controlling dengue.
ASHA workers and health officials have been actively raising public awareness about dengue prevention. The government has mandated bi-weekly larvae and Aedes mosquito surveys in identified hotspots, with a focus on slum areas and settlements. Officials have been directed to intensify mosquito control measures to curb the spread of dengue.
“The district is taking all necessary steps to control the dengue situation,” DC Vijayamahantesh assured.
