A 16-year-old teen from Belagavi has become the hero of a remarkable medical story, after his family made the courageous decision to donate his liver, saving a 63-year-old patient’s life. The recipient, who had been waiting for over a year, underwent a successful liver transplant at SPARSH Hospital in Bengaluru.
The liver was retrieved from KLE Hospital in Belagavi, with a seamless and well-coordinated transfer to Bengaluru. The journey included a green corridor and swift flight arrangements via Indigo Airlines, ensuring the organ reached SPARSH Hospital in just a few hours.
Dr. Sharan Shivaraj Patil, Chairman and Chief Orthopedic Surgeon at SPARSH Hospitals, praised the teamwork and the family’s selflessness, highlighting the crucial role of SOTTO, the police, and airlines in making this life-saving transplant possible.
