A tragic incident occurred on Wednesday night when Gaurish Ganiga (28), a young doctor preparing for his MS course after completing his MBBS, took his own life by jumping into Kotilingeshwara lake in Koteshwara.
Gaurish, son of Narayana from Hangalur, was practicing at the Kundapur Government Hospital and had recently appeared for the entrance test for his MS course. However, he had been reportedly struggling with depression in the days leading up to the incident.
On Wednesday evening, Gaurish left home and did not return. After his family reported him missing, authorities traced his mobile location to the lake. Upon investigation, his motorcycle was found parked nearby, with his phone and footwear also located close to the water. His body was recovered the following morning. The reasons behind this tragic decision remain unclear.
