Heavy Rains Cause Flooding in Davangere and Jagaluru
Davanagere: Heavy rains that began in the early hours of Thursday caught residents in Davangere and Jagaluru off guard, forcing many to wake up and drain rainwater that flooded their homes. The downpour, which started around midnight on Wednesday, persisted until Thursday morning, resulting in overflowing tanks and streams in the region.
At approximately 3:30 am, rainwater inundated several houses in the Pisale Compound area of Davanagere city, alarming residents who were asleep. Fire department personnel were dispatched to assist in draining the water from affected households. Overflowing drains exacerbated the situation, leading to flood-like conditions in low-lying areas, including the onion market and Bharat Colony.
In Jagaluru taluk, the Jinagi stream has also overflowed, flooding the nearby Hiremallanhole village. As a precaution, authorities have relocated residents from affected areas to safer locations, with approximately 40 families currently taking shelter at a care center.
