
Hubballi-Dharwad Police Crack Down on Illegal Money Lenders After Stabbing Incident
Following a stabbing incident involving a ninth-grade student who reportedly borrowed money from a private lender, the City police have taken significant action against illegal money lending operations in Hubballi-Dharwad. The police have arrested 24 individuals involved in illegal money lending activities and seized various items, including mobile phones, vehicles, and bond papers.
The investigation uncovered that these money lenders were charging exorbitant interest rates and resorting to extortion and threats to recover the loans. This led to a widespread crackdown across multiple police station jurisdictions, including Vidyagiri, Town, Suburban, and Bendigeri.
In total, 25 people were arrested in connection with these illegal activities. The police operation aimed to dismantle the network of illegal money lenders and address the growing issue of predatory lending practices in the region.
