A long-standing land lease disagreement took a deadly turn near Hubballi, as a conflict over farming rights ended in the sudden death of a farmer.

The unfortunate event occurred along Mantur Road, where a heated exchange allegedly turned violent. Basappa Kusugal, aged 65, was at the center of the dispute. Eyewitnesses claim the argument intensified when one of the opposing parties allegedly struck Basappa hard in the chest.

Basappa collapsed immediately, and despite efforts to take him to the hospital swiftly, he was pronounced dead upon arrival. The victim’s relatives have pointed fingers at two individuals, holding them accountable for both the attack and the resulting fatality.

Local residents familiar with the matter said tensions over the plot of agricultural land had been simmering for weeks, and this tragic outcome has left the community shocked and grieving. Some neighbors revealed that the land in question had been the source of multiple past disagreements.
