On August 12, US-based retail grocery chain Hy-Vee, Inc. announced a 10-year lease for a 54,000-square-foot office space at Karle Tech Park in North Bengaluru. This new facility will support the company’s expanding global capability center, Helpful Smiles Technology Global, which previously operated out of a 25,000-square-foot space in Manyata Tech Park.

Hy-Vee’s move to this larger space reflects its strategy to tap into India’s talent pool for a variety of technical and non-technical roles, enabling 24/7 project operations. The new office, designed with a garden city theme, can accommodate up to 350 employees and features amenities such as 17 meeting rooms, collaboration spaces, and a Lalbagh-themed glasshouse. It also includes recreational facilities like a pool table, table tennis, dart boards, foosball, and a unique punching bag.

Lalitha JS, Site Lead for HST Global – India, mentioned that the office design draws inspiration from both Hy-Vee’s global standards and Bengaluru’s garden city concept. Travis Hoover, Chief Data Officer at Hy-Vee, expressed enthusiasm about the new space supporting the growth of the HST Global team and advancing Hy-Vee’s retail leadership.

India remains a top choice for global capability centers (GCCs), with nearly 53 million square feet leased across major cities between 2022 and mid-2024. Bengaluru leads this trend, favored for its talent pool, technology ecosystem, and start-up environment. Karnataka’s upcoming GCC policy is anticipated to further boost GCC activities and job creation in the city.
