Bellary : Kranti Vengala and co-driver Dhanaraj Reddy from Hyderabad emerged as champions in the Pro Modified category of the ‘Utsav The Hampi’ Off-Road National Motorsport event organized by Vijayanagara Motorsports Academy.

The final round of this two-day adventure sport took place on Sunday evening. In the Pro Modified category, which showcases daring feats on steep hills and valleys, Kranti Vengala successfully maneuvered his vehicle down and up the ravine of Rajapur Hill. He clinched the victory with a total of 536 points, with Dhanaraj Reddy providing crucial support.

“This is my fourth consecutive participation in the national off-road competition in Hosapete. The off-road tracks here are challenging, and I’m happy to have successfully completed the competition,” Vengala told ‘Prajavani’.

Other results included: Women’s category – Meena Srikant and Abhinanda, Mangaluru (585 points); Modified Petrol – Penta Reddy and Govardhan Reddy, Hyderabad (410); Modified Diesel – Subhash and Aniruddha (505); Stock Petrol – Pratap Rajendra Karadkar and Kalidas Dongre, Maharashtra (548); Stock Diesel – Appanna and Shamanth, Madikeri (547); Thar 2020 – Adarsh and Chandramouli, Bengaluru (565); and Jimny – Sabu and Rajeev Lal, Bengaluru (572).

The award ceremony was held in the city on Sunday night. Rohit Gowda, one of the organizers from Bengaluru, mentioned plans to host five to six national-level motorsport events in the future, including a National Rally Championship. Other organizers present were Santosh H.M. and Darpan Gowda.
