India Retains Squad for Second Test Against Bangladesh After Crushing 280-Run Victory
The national selectors have retained the Indian cricket team for the second and final Test against Bangladesh, following their dominant 280-run win in the opening Test. The match will be played in Kanpur from September 27. Speculations had suggested that some key players, including pacer Jasprit Bumrah, might be rested, but the selection committee has decided to stick with the same squad.
In the first Test, India defeated Bangladesh with five sessions to spare. Senior off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin shined with a six-wicket haul, while Rishabh Pant and Shubman Gill’s centuries propelled India to declare their second innings at 287 for 4, setting Bangladesh an improbable target of 515. Bangladesh were bowled out for 234 in their second innings.
India’s squad for the second Test remains as follows:
Rohit Sharma (C), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, Sarfaraz Khan, Rishabh Pant (WK), Dhruv Jurel (WK), R Ashwin, R Jadeja, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohd. Siraj, Akash Deep, Jasprit Bumrah, Yash Dayal.
