Thiruvananthapuram: Napoleon Bonaparte once said, “A resolute determination is the truest wisdom.” Proving this saying, 105-year-old Bageerathi Amma, through sheer determination, has cleared the class IV exams with 74.5 percent.
Mother of six and grandmother of 16, Bageerathi Amma, the oldest learner under the Kerala State Literacy Mission, has made this historic achievement.
District co-coordinator of State Literacy Mission, C K Pradeep Kumar, speaking to ANI said that the achievement by the 105-year-old has been truly inspirational for other students to continue their education.
She scored 205 out of 275 in the exams in the autonomous institution falling under the Kerala government.
The officials of State Literary Mission had helped realize her dream for which, Bageerathi, who after class III had given up studies to take care of her younger siblings, could manage to pass with a decent percentage of marks.
This education system aims at providing literary skills to everyone and ensuring that it is applicable to their daily lives.
