In a deeply disturbing case, three individuals have been charged after an 11-year-old girl allegedly died from prolonged starvation inside a home in Florida.

The child, identified as Miana Moran, was found unresponsive in February 2025 after emergency responders were called to the residence.

Investigators said the girl was severely underweight at the time of death, reportedly weighing around 43 pounds.

Household members charged

Authorities have charged Tyler Carter with murder of a child by a custodian.

His mother, Shannon Robinson, was earlier indicted on charges including murder of a child by a custodian and child neglect resulting in death.

The child’s biological father, Aaron Moran, has also been charged with murder of a child by a parent and child neglect resulting in death.

Food allegedly withheld as punishment

According to investigators, witnesses said Miana was denied food as punishment while other household members ate regular meals in front of her.

Court documents described Tyler Carter as a “psychological brother” who had lived in the home since 2020.

Authorities said he was aware of the child’s deteriorating condition.

Child welfare visits before death

Officials stated that Child Protective Services had visited the home four to five times before Miana’s death, with the final visit reportedly occurring just weeks earlier.

The case has raised serious questions about missed warning signs and child protection systems.

Investigation continues

Law enforcement agencies said the investigation remains ongoing and additional details may emerge through court proceedings.

The tragedy has drawn widespread outrage and renewed calls for stronger child safeguarding measures
