In a tragic incident in Mumbai’s Malad area, a 28-year-old man, Akash Maeen, was beaten to death by a group of men following a dispute involving an autorickshaw accident. The altercation occurred near Pushpa Park on Saturday evening when an autorickshaw driver hit Akash’s car while overtaking. This led to an argument between the two, after which the autorickshaw driver fled the scene. However, a crowd gathered in support of the auto driver and attacked Akash.
A video of the incident shows Akash being brutally assaulted by the group while his father tries to intervene. In a desperate attempt to protect her son, Akash’s mother even lay over his body, shielding him from the attackers. Despite their efforts, Akash sustained severe injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he later died.
Akash, who was a worker for the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), was with his parents at the time of the altercation. The Dindoshi Police arrested nine individuals based on CCTV footage of the attack. Six were apprehended on Sunday, with three more arrested on Monday. All the accused have been charged under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for murder and related offenses, and they will remain in police custody until October 22.
This incident highlights the growing issue of mob violence, with tensions escalating from a minor road incident to a fatal assault.
