A tragic incident occurred in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, where a 5-year-old child died due to firecrackers during celebrations of India’s victory in the T-20 World Cup final. The incident was revealed on Monday through CCTV footage from the area.
The incident took place in Badhaiya Mohalla under the jurisdiction of Gohalpur police station. Several children had gathered to burst crackers in celebration of India’s win. They were setting up a rocket in a steel glass while the 5-year-old boy, Deepak Thakur, watched from a distance. When the cracker exploded, a piece of the steel glass flew off and accidentally pierced Deepak’s stomach. He fell unconscious and was immediately rushed to the hospital.

Dinesh Kumar, a resident of Badhaiya Mohalla, reported, “Children were bursting leftover crackers when a piece pierced a child’s abdomen. People rushed him to Victoria Hospital, but unfortunately, he passed away on the way.” Deepak Thakur, a resident of Badhaiya Mohalla, was identified as the deceased.
The entire incident was captured on CCTV and is now under police investigation. While the community was celebrating Team India’s World Cup win, the focus has now shifted to understanding and addressing this tragic event.
