8-year-old girl drowns in rainwater-filled pit while playing
In a heartbreaking incident in Onibagilu near Badoor, Kasaragod district, an eight-year-old girl tragically lost her life after falling into a rainwater-filled pit on Monday evening.
The victim, Fatima Hiba, was the daughter of Vinnu Muhammad and Khadeejath Kubra. Around 5 pm, while playing outside with her classmates from Badoor Padu A L P School, the third-grade student reportedly slipped and fell into a pit hidden beneath accumulated rainwater.
Alarmed by the screams of children, family members and locals rushed to the scene and managed to rescue her. She was rushed to a hospital in Kumble, but doctors declared her brought dead.
Her body has been moved to the Kasaragod General Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem examination before being released to the family.
The local community has been left in deep shock and sorrow over the tragic and untimely loss of the young child.
