New Delhi: Mukul Rohatgi, senior advocate representing Deepak Talwar, told the Delhi High Court that his client had been “abducted and brought to India”. Rohatgi has alleged that legal procedures were not followed for the extradition.
Talwar was deported from Dubai on Thursday, January 31, and is currently in the custody of the Enforcement Directorate (ED).
Talwar has challenged his deportation before the Delhi High Court on Tuesday, February 5, as being illegal. The court has now sought a response from ED on the corporate lobbyist’s plea.
Talwar is wanted by the ED and the CBI in a case of misusing over Rs 90 Crore taken through foreign funding route as part of corporate social responsibility (CSR).
Talwar was booked by the ED and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in criminal cases of corruption, while the Income Tax Department charged him with tax evasion.
