New Delhi

The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) registered a major victory in the Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) elections, winning three out of four key posts. Union Home Minister Amit Shah hailed the result as a “reflection of the youth’s faith in the Nation First ideology,” while BJP leaders also termed the outcome a sign of growing nationalist sentiment among students.

ABVP dominates student elections

In the results declared on Thursday, ABVP candidate Aryan Maan was elected President with 28,841 votes, defeating NSUI’s Joslyn Nandita Choudhary who secured 12,645 votes. ABVP also claimed the posts of Secretary and Joint Secretary with Kunal Chaudhary and Deepika Jha emerging victorious.

The lone win for the Congress-backed National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) came in the Vice President’s post, where Rahul Jhansla polled 29,339 votes to defeat his ABVP rival.

Amit Shah congratulates winners

Union Home Minister Amit Shah congratulated ABVP and said the win reaffirmed the growing support for the “Nation First” ideology among the youth. “This victory will help transform the student power of the organisation into the strength of the nation,” Shah remarked.

BJP national president JP Nadda also extended greetings to the ABVP leadership and newly elected representatives. He said that ABVP, guided by the ideals of Swami Vivekananda, has always inspired youth with nationalism and service. He added that the results demonstrate the young generation’s embrace of the Nation First message.

Significance of the verdict

The DUSU elections are often seen as a bellwether for student sentiment and political currents across India. ABVP’s success suggests increased traction for organisations that emphasise nationalist and right-of-centre ideology among Delhi University students.

However, NSUI’s win in the Vice President’s post indicates the presence of diverse voices on campus and continuing competition among student groups. Analysts say the results highlight both ABVP’s organisational strength and NSUI’s ability to retain a segment of the student electorate.

Conclusion

The 2025 DUSU polls not only reaffirmed ABVP’s influence on campus but also became a political talking point at the national level. With senior BJP leaders framing the outcome as a youth endorsement of “Nation First,” the results underline how student elections continue to reflect broader ideological currents in Indian politics.
