A tragic dispute over parking turned fatal in Delhi’s Nizamuddin area, leading to the murder of Asif Qureshi, actor Huma Qureshi’s cousin. The incident occurred around 10 PM on Thursday when Asif requested two young men not to park their scooter in front of his home’s entrance. The exchange escalated into a heated argument.
According to Shaheen Qureshi, one of Asif’s wives, the confrontation began when a neighbour ignored repeated requests to move the vehicle. “He verbally abused my husband and warned he’d return,” she said. Moments later, the man came back with his younger brother, and the two allegedly stabbed Asif with a sharp object.
By the time Asif’s brother Javed reached the scene, Asif had lost significant blood. He was rushed to National Heart Institute in East of Kailash, where doctors declared him dead on arrival, stating that he had likely died over an hour earlier.
Shaheen also claimed the attackers had previously attempted to harm her husband, suggesting a history of hostility.
Saleem Qureshi, father of Huma Qureshi, expressed deep sorrow over the killing. “My nephew was murdered over a simple request not to block the gate. Both assailants killed him together,” he said.
The accused—Ujjwal (19) and Gautam (18)—have been arrested. The murder weapon has been recovered, and an FIR has been filed under Section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which pertains to murder.
