Ahmedabad (Gujarat): Adani Cement, in partnership with its group associate PSP Infra, has achieved a historic milestone in temple engineering by completing the world’s largest religious temple raft foundation casting at Umiya Dham near Ahmedabad. The remarkable feat was executed through a continuous 54-hour operation, marking a benchmark in scale, precision, and sustainability.

World record feat at Umiya Dham

The massive raft foundation for the Jagat Janani Maa Umiya Temple was constructed using 24,100 cubic metres of ECOMaxX M45 grade low-carbon concrete, specially developed by Adani Cement. The non-stop pour was supported by 26 strategically located Ready-Mix Concrete (RMX) plants, over 285 transit mixers, 3,600 tonnes of high-performance cement, and 600+ skilled workers and engineers working in coordinated shifts.

Spanning 450 ft x 400 ft x 8 ft, the raft will support 1,551 Dharma Stambhs for the temple, which is envisioned to rise 504 ft high, making it the world’s tallest temple upon completion.

Sustainable innovation at scale

The ECOMaxX M45 mix incorporated 66% Supplementary Cementitious Material (SCM), reducing the carbon footprint of the project by 60%. Additionally, Adani Cement’s proprietary Coolcrete formulation ensured placement temperatures below 28°C, thereby minimising thermal stress. Embedded thermocouples continue to monitor durability and temperature in real time, ensuring long-term structural integrity.

“This project is not just about setting records – it embodies quality, scale, speed, and purpose,” said Vinod Bahety, CEO of Adani Cement. “Faith drives innovation, and innovation uplifts communities. With ECOMaxX concrete, we have reduced carbon emissions significantly, ensuring this landmark remains sustainable for generations.”

A cultural and spiritual milestone

R.P. Patel, President of Vishv Umiya Foundation, called the feat a proud moment for India’s cultural and engineering heritage. “This foundation is a living testament to what devotion and modern engineering can achieve together,” he said.

The Umiya Dham project, spread across 60 acres with an estimated investment of Rs 2,000 crore, will be a sprawling cultural and social campus centred around the temple dedicated to Goddess Parvati (Maa Umiya).

Witnessed by thousands

The historic event drew over 1,000 people on-site and more than 10,000 online viewers, underlining the deep cultural resonance of the project.

Adani Cement, already known for contributing to engineering marvels like the Chenab Railway Bridge in Jammu & Kashmir and World One Tower in Mumbai, has now expanded its expertise to spiritual infrastructure.

Conclusion

By successfully executing the world’s largest temple raft foundation, Adani Cement has combined engineering brilliance with sustainability. The Umiya Dham temple is poised to become not just an architectural wonder but also a global symbol of faith strengthened by innovation.
