Bengaluru: ISRO has thanked Indians, both in the country and abroad, for the support it received when the signal of the Lunar Lander was lost only moments before touchdown. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who was present in the Control Centre on the occasion, had told the scientists not to get disheartened and that the country was proud of them.
People from all walks of life had praised ISRO and its scientists for the achievement. ISRO has tweeted “Thank you for standing by us and inspiring us to aim for the sky.”
Even though efforts to link with the lander have not yielded any result as yet, ISRO called it “A moment to be courageous – and courageous we will be.”
ISRO also informed that as of now it is estimated that the orbiter will continue with a useful life of seven years instead of the one year that was originally planned
