In a firm step to prevent communal unrest, Ahmedabad City Police have detained a social media user for allegedly fueling discord between communities through deceptive Instagram content. The arrest comes as authorities heighten vigilance during Ramzan to uphold peace and harmony.

The incident stemmed from a personal conflict involving Aman Saja, Ajju Kania, Amit Chunara, and Sunil Chunara in Chunara Vas, under Vatva police jurisdiction. Investigations led to Mehendi Hussain Mehmudul Syed, a Vatva resident, who had uploaded a provocative video distorting the dispute’s context to gain online traction while inciting Hindu-Muslim tensions.

Recognizing the potential threat, Vatva police promptly registered a case against Syed and took him into custody. Sources revealed that Syed, a content creator with no formal employment, deliberately spread misinformation to stir unrest during the holy month.

Strict crackdown on digital propaganda

Following the arrest, senior police officials have reinforced their stance against online hate, warning that misleading social media posts aimed at spreading enmity will face severe legal consequences.

Authorities have ramped up digital surveillance and urged citizens to report inflammatory content. Law enforcement has reiterated its zero-tolerance policy against hate speech, ensuring Ahmedabad remains peaceful and united, particularly during sensitive times like Ramzan.
