An Air India pilot died after suffering a heart attack while on scheduled crew rest in Bali on Wednesday.

The deceased, a first officer aged nearly 40, had reportedly operated a flight from Delhi to Bali on Tuesday before the tragic incident.

Pilot complained of severe discomfort

According to the airline, the pilot was resting at a hotel in Bali when he complained of severe discomfort.

He was immediately taken to a hospital, where doctors diagnosed him as having suffered a heart attack.

Despite medical efforts, he could not be saved.

In an official statement, Air India expressed deep sorrow over the loss of the crew member and extended condolences to his family, friends and colleagues.

The airline said it is extending all possible assistance to the bereaved family during this difficult time.
