Raipur: “In our country, if the Ethanol production unit increases and if alternative fuels are used optimally, it is possible to bring down the cost of diesel top about Rs 50 and cost of petrol to Rs 50,” said Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister of Roads and Transport.
Addressing the conference in Charoda of Durg district, Gadkari said, “Our petroleum ministry will have five ethanol units established. Here, the wastes of rice, wheat, sugarcane will be used to produce fuel. If this is achieved we can slash down fuel prices drastically.”
“Chattisgarh has the potential of producing biogas because of remarkable agricultural produce,” he said.
The BJP faced the ire of the people for hiking the fuel price recently and opposition parties like Congress and several other organizations had called for a Bharath bundh on September 10 against the same.
