A simple act of kindness by an American traveller towards an elderly street vendor in Delhi’s Connaught Place has touched thousands online, with many praising the interaction as a powerful example of compassion and human connection.
The viral video was shared by American content creator Steve Yalo on Instagram. During a walk through Connaught Place, Yalo noticed an elderly woman trying to sell pens on a busy street, while most passersby appeared to ignore her.
A small purchase turns into a touching moment
Yalo approached the woman and, despite a language barrier, struck up a friendly conversation. After learning that each pen cost Rs 50, he purchased two pens for Rs 100.
Moved by her warm smile and cheerful attitude, he decided to buy two more. As the conversation continued, Yalo noticed that she still had several pens left to sell. Curious, he counted the remaining stock and estimated it was worth around Rs 900.
When he checked his wallet, he found he had only Rs 550 left. Without hesitation, he handed over the entire amount to the vendor and wished her well.
Although he paid for the remaining pens, Yalo took only a few before continuing on his way.
Internet applauds the act of kindness
The video quickly gained attention across social media platforms, with viewers praising not only the financial gesture but also the respect and dignity with which Yalo treated the elderly woman.
Many users commented that the interaction was about more than money. They said it highlighted the importance of acknowledging people, listening to their stories and treating them with kindness.
For many viewers, the heartwarming exchange served as a reminder that even small acts of generosity can make a lasting impact and inspire others to show compassion in everyday life.
