During his visit to the Union Territory, Shah will oversee preparations for the upcoming Amarnath pilgrimage, scheduled to commence on June 29. Additionally, he will preside over a high-level meeting expected to be attended by key officials including National Security Adviser Ajit Doval, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, and top military and security personnel.

The agenda will cover updates on security deployments along the International Border and Line of Control, infiltration activities, ongoing anti-terror operations, and the current presence of militant groups in Jammu and Kashmir. Recent incidents, including attacks in Reasi, Kathua, and Doda districts that resulted in casualties among pilgrims and security personnel, will also be reviewed.

Notably, Shah will emphasize ensuring smooth logistics for pilgrims traveling to the Amarnath shrine, with measures including RFID tracking for real-time location monitoring, insurance coverage up to Rs 5 lakh for each pilgrim, and security arrangements along travel routes from airports and railway stations to the pilgrimage base camps.

The annual Amarnath pilgrimage attracts hundreds of thousands of devotees to the sacred Himalayan cave shrine via routes in Jammu and Kashmir, with expectations of higher turnout compared to previous years.
