Pune: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday urged young Indians to study the life, speeches and writings of Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak, saying they should draw inspiration from the freedom fighter’s ideals and contribute actively to nation-building. Shah made the remarks while addressing a gathering in Pune during events marking Tilak’s death anniversary, where he highlighted the nationalist leader’s lasting contribution to India’s freedom movement and cultural awakening.

Shah’s remarks came during his visit to Pune, where he also presented the Lokmanya Tilak National Award 2026 to National Security Advisor Ajit Doval in recognition of his contribution to strengthening India’s national security.
The ceremony was attended by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Union Minister of State Murlidhar Mohol and several other dignitaries. Shah praised Doval’s decades of service and described him as a symbol of dedication to the country’s security.
