New Delhi: After praising and deciding to gift an all new Mahindra XUV NXT 100 to “Shravan Kumar of Kaliyug” Krishna Kumar, a Mysuru resident who took his mother on a pilgrimage throughout India and Nepal on his Bajaj Chetak, Chairman of the Mahindra Group, Anand Mahindra’s attention has now been grabbed by the singing talent of a shoe polish boy.
A contestant on the Indian singing reality show “Indian Idol – Season 11” named Sunny, from Punjab, has won Anand’s heart.
Having been mighty impressed with the young shoe shiner’s singing talent, Anand took to Twitter and wrote, “Diwali is the perfect day to learn about people who rise. A friend sent me this saying he was in tears watching it. Find the whole clip on YouTube & I challenge you to remain dry-eyed. TV & social media have done us a great service: Discovering talent in the humblest locations”

Reacting to this, music composer and Indian Idol judge Vishal Dadlani wrote, “So glad you noticed Sunny, @anandmahindra Sir. Do watch the upcoming episodes. All our singers on #IndianIdol11 have the potential to inspire kids in every corner and every economic level in India. We’d be honoured if you visit our set & chat with the kids, whenever you like! (sic)”
He also thanked Anand for tweeting about Sunny.
Parliamentarian Harsimrat Kaur Badal has also praised and wished the young talent success.
Sunny had performed the “Afreen Afreen” song, composed and sung by legendary Pakistani singer Nursat Fateh Ali Khan.
It can be recalled that earlier, Anand Mahindra had also gifted an LPG fueled stove to ‘1 ruppe idli ajji’, an old woman who, for the past three decades, has been selling one idli for one rupee. Similarly, he had gifted an all new Mahindra Bolero to a food truck owner in Mangaluru named Shilpa, who sold authentic North Karnataka style curries and rotis under the name “Halli Mane Rotties”.
