1 killed, several injured as two trains collide in Andhra Pradesh

In a recent mishap in Andhra Pradesh‘s Vizianagaram district, a passenger train bound for Rayagada in Odisha from Visakhapatnam derailed, resulting in at least ten people being injured.

Collision Leads to Derailment

The incident occurred due to a rear-end collision between the Visakhapatnam-Palasa passenger train and the Visakhapatnam-Rayagada passenger train. As a result of the collision, three coaches were involved in the accident, causing injuries to ten individuals.

Rescue and Relief Efforts Underway

Rescue operations are currently underway, with local authorities and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) being informed to provide assistance and ambulances. Additionally, accident relief trains have reached the site to address the situation.

Government Response

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has ordered immediate relief measures. He directed the dispatch of as many ambulances as possible from Visakhapatnam and Anakapalli, which are the nearest districts to Vizianagaram. Furthermore, arrangements are being made in nearby hospitals to ensure that the injured individuals receive prompt and quality medical care.
