An Indian Army soldier posted in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district lost his life after slipping and falling while heading out for night patrol duty, officials confirmed on Friday.
The soldier, a native of Haryana, was serving with the Indian Army’s 46 Rashtriya Rifles and was stationed at the Fatehgarh Sheeri camp in Baramulla.
Collapse during night patrol duty
According to officials, the incident occurred when the soldier was moving out for routine night patrol. He reportedly slipped and suffered a serious fall, following which he lost consciousness.
Fellow soldiers immediately rushed him to the Government Medical College, Baramulla for emergency medical treatment. However, doctors at the hospital declared him brought dead.
Medico-legal formalities initiated
Authorities have initiated medico-legal procedures to ascertain further details surrounding the incident. Officials said all standard protocols are being followed, and the Army has informed the soldier’s family about the tragic loss.
The exact circumstances leading to the fall are being examined as part of routine procedures.

The sudden death of the soldier has cast a pall of gloom over the unit and the local area. Senior Army officials expressed condolences to the bereaved family and paid tribute to the soldier’s service and sacrifice.
