New Delhi: Believe it or not! Arunachal Pradesh government has converted the chief minister’s bungalow into a guesthouse after series of unfortunate events took place in the bunglow, giving the palatial mansion a tag of being a ‘haunted’ place.
After priests across religions were invited last week to perform ‘purification’ rituals in the CM’s bunglow, a hilltop mansion in Itanagar built in 2009 at a cost of Rs 60 cr during tenure of former CM Late Dorjee Khandu, it was thrown open as a guest house.

The CM’s mansion has seen seven CM’s ever since it was built and incidentally two of them-Dorjee Khandu and Jarbom Gamlin died in a chopper crash and of prolonged illness respectively. Gradually, rumours of the house being jinxed and being possess by evil spirits started making rounds.

In turn of events, Nabam Tuki won the polls in Arunachal Pradesh, even when his party- Congress tasting digraceful defeat across the country. Assuming that he would mount to the post of the CM, Tuki consulted ‘vastu’ experts and rectified what  he believed was ‘structural error’ in the bunglow. But, in unpredictable political move, Kalkho Pul became the new CM of the hilly state. Soon Tuki had moved Apex Court and the court ruled in his favour. However, on August. 2016, the belief of the people got a boost when Pul’s body was found hanging from a ceiling fan in the same bunglow. The people became all the more sure of their suspicion when a staff of the bunglow was also found hanging from a ceiling fan in the bunglow two months after Pul’s death. Though re-instated, Tuki was replaced by Pema Khandu, the incumbent CM of Arunachal, but for reasons best known to him Khandu never moved to the bunglow.

With this, the administration decided to go in for a purification ceremony and then open the bunglow as guest house. One may have to wait and watch if ‘guests’ are willing to check-in at this guest house which has scary tales to narrate.
