In her statement, Ms. Maliwal claimed that Mr. Kejriwal’s parents were present in the home when she was attacked last week, according to sources with the Delhi Police.

When Swati Maliwal accused Bibhav Kumar, Mr. Kejriwal’s chief, of assaulting her at the Chief Minister’s official residence, a political storm broke out. Mr. Kumar has been placed in police custody.

In the case, the police now intend to question Arvind Kejriwal’s parents as well, but they will do so later.

Mr Kejriwal, though, took to X (formerly Twitter), to share photos of him and his parents waiting for the police to arrive.

“I am waiting for the police with my parents and wife. Yesterday the police called my parents and asked for time for interrogation. But they have not given any information yet whether they will come or not,” the Delhi Chief Minister said.

A case was filed against Bibhav Kumar and a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was formed to investigate the case based on Ms Maliwal’s complaint. Mr Kumar was arrested by the Delhi Police on Sunday, May 19 and is currently in police custody till today.

In his counter-complaint, Bibhav Kumar accused Ms. Maliwal of breaking the law by forcing her way into the CM’s entrance.

Days before the sixth phase of voting in the nation’s capital, which is set for May 25, the assault case controversy broke.

On May 25, there will be elections in Delhi for seven Lok Sabha seats. June 4 is when the votes will be tallied. The Congress is running for three seats as part of the seat-sharing agreement, and the AAP has candidates running from four Delhi constituencies.
